Our IELTS course is of 8 week in duration. All the Classes are held twice a week and each class is three hours in duration. Alternatively, students can also attend two hour classes thrice a week,if they have any problem in taking class twice a week. The course covers all the aspects and sections of the IELTS exams. IELTS FAQ

What is IELTS?

IELTS means International English Language Testing System. It is required for international students, professionals and prospective immigrants and many more. It is a mandatory test for some visa categories for countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada and U K etc.,. Organisations such as CGFNS, Irish nursing and NHS accept IELTS exam. Now-a-days this is recognized as an alternative to TOEFL by many American universities and colleges.

What does it test?

It tests the complete range of English language skills, which will be encountered by the students when studying or training in the medium of English. There is an option of either academic or general training reading and writing modules. Academic is suitable for candidates planning to undertake higher education study. General training is suitable for candidates planning to take non-academic training or work experience or for immigration purposes.

Who manages IELTS?

IELTS is jointly managed by university of Cambridge ESOL examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council & IDP Education Australia known as IELTS Australia.

What is the test like?

Candidates are tested in different aspects such as listening, reading, writing, and speaking modules. If the candidate is planning to take academic study, it is highly recommended that the candidate sits for the academic reading and writing modules. If the candidate is planning to take non-academic training (immigration, work, etc), it is recommended that he sit for general training reading and writing modules.

What is the duration of the exam?

For Listening – 4 sections, 40 items, 30 minutes, (10 minutes-answer transfer time)
For Reading – 3 sections, 40 items, 60 minutes General training writing – 2 tasks (letter writing – 150 words, Essay – 250 words), 60 minutes
For Academic training writing – 2 tasks (graph – 150 words and Essay – 250 words), 60 minutes
For Speaking – 11 to 15 minutes

For how many days is the test conducted?

The duration of the test is for two days. The listening, reading & writing module tests are conducted for one day and the spoken interview is taken on some other day. It may be conducted one week earlier or one week later, depending on student registration. Several countries have several different methods like IDP Australia conducts its speaking test a day earlier than its written test, and the British council on the next day of its written test or on the same day of the written test.

When are the results declared?

The results is declared online on 13th day. And the Test Report Form or scorecard is given on 15th day.

What do the test results show?

The test report shows about the overall ability, as well as performance in listening, reading, writing and speaking. Scores are given on a scale from 1 to 9 including a score for each module of the test in addition to an overall score. Individual module scores & overall band score may be reported in half or whole bands.

Is there any pass or fail marks? What do the bands imply?

There is no such pass or fail marks.
9: It is rated as expert user; has full command of the language, appropriate accurate and fluent with complete understanding.
0: It is rated as non-user; essentially has no ability to use the language beyond few isolated words

What scores are accepted?

The minimum score accepted for this exam differs from country to country and University to University. However 5.5 Band Score is a must to applicable in Abroad Universities.

How long must a candidate wait to take the exam again?

Taking IELTS exam has now become more convenient and easy. The urge in people mind to go abroad, Now the IELTS examination body has done away with its previous restriction of 3 months for taking the IELTS for a second or other time. Now one can appear for the exam without any restriction of time conditions.
